Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the expansion of the New York State Master Teacher Program, which will enable more Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) teachers to join the existing statewide network of 623 Master Teachers. Launched in 2013 and modeled after the MƒA Master Teacher Fellowship, the NYS Master Teacher Program rewards outstanding New York State STEM teachers through four-year fellowships.
“MƒA applauds the efforts of Governor Cuomo and SUNY to expand the state-wide Master Teacher Program, which builds upon our own community of exceptional STEM teachers in New York City,” said John Ewing, MƒA President. “Master Teacher Programs are changing the landscape of mathematics and science education across the nation, and we continue to advocate for and support the development of similar models in all fifty states. The New York State Master Teacher Program is truly a spectacular accomplishment.”
