The MƒA Equity Webinars Series invites nationally recognized educators to share ideas that support equity within STEM. Following an interactive presentation by the speaker, Master Teachers have the opportunity to discuss how these ideas might be applied in their own school environments in small groups. Teachers from MƒA, other Master Teacher programs, and people interested in learning more about MƒA are invited to attend.
After the unjust deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, one mathematics department in a small, diverse school district did not let conversations about antiracism and social justice end with the national protests. In this talk, Dr. Maloney shares her work with this department as teachers learned what it could look like to teach toward antiracism and social justice in a mathematics classroom. She describes sample lessons developed by the group and asks teachers to ponder dilemmas that emerged throughout this transformative process.
