Joanna Cruz (she/her/hers) is a Program Officer for Mathematics and Computer Science at MƒA. In this role, she concentrates on mathematics, computer science, and technology professional programming for MƒA teachers.
Prior to MƒA, Joanna was a part of the learning community at a STEM focused, early college high school in Brooklyn for seven years as a mathematics teacher, NYC DOE Peer Collaborative Teacher (PCT), instructional coach, and school leadership support consultant. She was a MƒA Early Career Teacher from 2019-2021, focusing on building her instructional and language mathematics routines and on centering real world relevance and equity in her Algebra classrooms. The trajectory of her teaching career led her to seek opportunities to support teachers and to partner in MƒA’s dedication to the holistic and pedagogical growth of New York City STEM teachers.
Joanna earned a B.E. in Electrical Engineering and a M.A.T in Secondary Mathematics Education from distinguished secondary institutions within New York City. She enjoys camping and road trips with her spouse and learning new crafts like pottery.
